I really enjoyed reading this recent entry where your granny describes the ice floes entering the bay and her walks among the lichens. The account of the feeble hymn sing was amusing but its so true! In the 1980’s the congregation still joined in towards the end of the first line and then the tempo would slow for the remainder of the hymn. These days the singing is much more brisk!
The photo of Marian Linstead with her two younger siblings, Lillian and Piercy was sad to see because Lillian died 26 Jan, 1918 aged 8yrs and Marian died Nov 12, 1918 just before her wedding. She was supposed to have marry Soloman Barney.
